Senior Writer

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Lead Writer, the Senior Writer is responsible for pitching, creating, and implementing memorable narrative arcs in a highly collaborative environment. In this role, you will be a vision holder and work closely with Level Design, Cinematic Design, Environment Art, and Production to build quests, characters, and dialogue.The ideal candidate will have proven experience in game writing, plotting and characterization, as well as strong documentation and organizational skills. They will also have a team-oriented mindset and the ability to succeed in a highly collaborative and iterative environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and pitch storylines to project leadership and partners

  • Write and design critical characters and quests

  • Provide constructive feedback for other writers and designers

  • Collaborate closely with Design and Art to create a cohesive experience

  • Partner with the Lead Writer to ensure narrative consistency and tone is maintained through the game

  • Be the narrative vision holder for large sections of contentâ—ŹExperience with non-linear dialogue

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 shipped title in a Senior Writer role

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of interweaving narrative and gameplay

  • A passion for characters and innovative storytelling

  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to feedback, design, and scope changes throughout development

  • Strong communication, planning, and documentation skills  

  • Strong, independent problem-solving and time-management skills

  • The ability to explain complex narrative topics to other departments and partners

  • Knowledge of current industry trends with regards to narrative and storytelling

  • Experience with Unreal Engine and Final Draft
